Cookie-Policy
Cookies on the Brand Portal
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small data package which is exchanged between computer programs and which is stored on your technical end device (such as a desktop, notebook or mobile device) when you visit a website. Cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a string of characters by which websites and servers can be assigned to the specific internet browser in which the cookie is stored accordingly. This enables the websites and servers visited to distinguish the individual browser of the person concerned from other internet browsers that contain other cookies. A specific internet browser can be recognised and identified via the unique cookie ID.
2. What are the basic types of cookies?
Absolutely necessary cookies (type 1)
These cookies are absolutely necessary for the website and its functions to work properly. Without these cookies, services such as the possibility of personalisation (if in use), for example, cannot be provided.
Functional cookies (type 2)
These cookies enable the comfort and performance of websites to be improved and various functions to be made available. For example, language settings can be stored in function cookies (if in use).
Performance cookies (type 3)
These cookies collect information about how users use websites. For example, performance cookies help identify particularly popular areas of a website. Generally, the information collected with these cookies is not personally identifiable.
Third-party cookies (type 4)
These cookies are set by third parties, e.g. social networks. They are primarily used to share content via social media channels using application-related social plugins.

3. What are cookies needed for?
The information in the cookies is needed to
- deliver the content of web pages correctly,
- to optimise the contents of websites as well as the advertising for the same,
- to ensure the long-term functionality of the information technology systems and the technology of websites, and
- to provide law enforcement authorities with the information necessary for prosecution in the event of a cyber attack.
This data and information is therefore evaluated statistically on the one hand and on the other hand with the aim of increasing data protection and data security within the company, in order to ultimately ensure an optimal level of protection for the personal data processed.
4. For what purposes does Festo use cookies?
Festo uses cookies in various ways such as for the following purposes:
- Providing the Festo websites and applications you use.
- Authenticating and identifying you when you use our websites and applications so that we can provide the services you request
- To store your preferences or where you have ended your use of a Festo website or application.
- Measure your use of Festo websites and applications so that we can improve them and tailor our websites and online services to your likely interests.
Festo's cookies can thus be categorised as follows, depending on their function:
- Functional cookies
In the case of functional cookies, a distinction is made between
- those which guarantee basic functionalities of the visited website and
- those which improve user comfort.
With the help of the latter cookies, the portal can "remember" certain entries and settings (e.g. login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a certain period of time and you do not need to make them again on each subsequent visit and when navigating the website.
- Cookies for website performance analysis
Cookies that help improve our website provide, among other things, aggregate statistics about the number of visitors to a website and which areas of a website are most viewed by users. These types of cookies may be installed by external analytics providers contracted by us.
- Interest-based and targeted cookies
In order to provide you with the most relevant information about our products and services, we use cookies to identify what content on our website has been viewed by you, as well as to tailor existing advertising banners to the visitor's product and additional services in a few selected places on our website, and to test the basic advertising effectiveness of our web pages.
5. How can you exercise control over cookies?
You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish.
You can find out how here: http://www.aboutcookies.org/.
You can delete cookies stored on your computer and set most browsers to prevent cookies from being stored. However, you may then have to make some settings manually each time you visit a site and accept that some functions may be impaired. However, switching off all cookies may also mean that some elementary functions on our website can no longer be carried out at all.
